Character
Name: Emperor Mateus
Canon: FFII/Dissidia
Age: Unknown I guess late 20s/early 30s
History: Rise and Fall of an Emperor
Canon Point: Before defeat in Shade Impulse in Dissidia
Preferred Team: Chaos
Cycle Goal: Destroy Cosmos (and also Chaos if possible) and drown the world in darkness, so he can rule over it
Memories:
General - poisoning water supplies, destroying cities to quell rebellion
Specific - tricking the rebellion into taking in a false queen in the form of a lamia
Personality: If one were to sum up the Emperor in a single word, that word would be monster. Unfortunately as accurate as the word might be in describing the man, the man is worse than any run of the mill monster. His arrogance is rather obvious, he considers himself greater than anyone else whom might be around him in his own world and even outside of it, he shows little to no respect for what might be greater than him or possibly his equal (point in fact the only two he even seems to show any respect to are Ultimecia & Shantotto in Dissidia) In his eyes, the world is his to dominate and use as he sees fit.
And he is intelligent and manipulative enough to get the results he desires by cunning and treachery if he can't outright just take it for himself. Be it by poisoning the drinking water of his enemies (or their only line of attack, their wyverns and then sweeping the castle) or tricking his enemies into walking into lethal traps willingly if all unknowing of the fact they are walking into a trap. (the coliseum.) Or for that matter arranging it so his enemies unwittingly bring danger into a place they thought safe from it. (Firion rescuing the magically-disguised Lamia Queen in place of Hilda and bringing her right into the rebels hideout.) Even outside of his own world and familiar territory he's still just as manipulatively cunning as he was back home, managing to get the hero's themselves to aid him in his plans without them even realizing just what they were doing until far too late in the game.
He's hard to read emotionally as he tends to affect a calm (if perhaps at times bored) expression and rarely if ever loses control over his emotions. Worry and fear are foreign concepts to him as he can't seem to comprehend that his plans would ever fail him. He's also misanthropic, likely due the fact that the Emperors and their heirs were cursed due to a demon trapped inside an indestructible "Stone of Iludia", it desired to rule the world via proxy and thus corrupted the Emperors of Palamecia into malicious masterminds as a form of revenge for being trapped within the stone as well as using them as proxy rulers.(Unfortunately for the demon, Mateus exiled his own mother after ascending the throne and she along with Minwu ended working to counteract the demon's work and succeeding, though not in time to save her son.)
This hatred of humanity was made especially obvious after the Emperor died and came back in both of his Hellish and Heavenly forms. The first desiring nothing more than the death and destruction of things, while the latter seems to believe (and in a way says as much) that humanity is it's own worse enemy and would continue to suffer and war with each other as long as they existed.
Mateus can be polite when speaking to his enemies, even calling them by their proper name and referring to them as gentlemen. However, he's also just as liable to be insulting and call them insects, worms and other such names upon whim.
Skills and Abilities:
Bravery Attacks (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Emperor_Mateus/Dissidia#Bravery_Attacks)
Landmine: Throw two mines onto the ground that explode on contact.
Thunder Crest: Form a circle of lightning on the ground that draws in opponents, damaging and stunning them over a period of time.
Bombard: Hit opponent with staff, knocking them back and planting mines on their chest that explode to launch them into the air. Can be used to reflect attacks.
Dynamite (ground): Charge and fire an orb of orange energy that sticks to walls and ceilings. Can trap and stun enemies for a period of time before exploding. If the opponent blocks the attack, the orb will absorb and damage the Emperor instead. Third tier defense crushes.
Light Crest (ground): Conjure a field of magic on the ground that shoots projectiles upwards when the opponent comes close. The projectiles bounce off walls and barriers and curve in the air to track the opponent.
Mine: Throw two floating mines that explode on contact. The mines bounce off walls and barriers before resting into position.
Light Crest (midair): Conjure a field of magic that shoots projectiles forward when the opponent comes close. Sigil turns to track opponent. The projectiles shoot forward and bounce off walls and barriers and curve in the air to track the opponent.
Dynamite (midair): Charge and fire an orb of orange energy that sticks to walls and ceilings. Can trap and stun enemies for a period of time before exploding. If the opponent blocks the attack, the orb will absorb and damage the Emperor instead. Third tier defense crushes.
HP Attacks
(http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Emperor_Mateus/Dissidia#HP_Attacks)
Flare (ground): Fire a slow-moving sphere of blue fire that tracks the enemy. Can be reflected with Melee High priority attacks to track and damage the Emperor.
Dreary Cell (ground):Create a spark of light in the air that expands into a crest of energy and surrounds opponent with exploding mines when they come close enough
Starfall (ground): Charge energy to summon a barrage of fireballs around opponent before a meteor drives them downward.
Flare (midair): Fire a sphere of orange fire that hovers in place. The sphere is destroyed if hit with a Melee High priority attack.
Dreary Cell (midair): Create a spark of light in the air that expands into a crest of energy and surrounds opponent with exploding mines when they come close enough.
Starfall (midair): Charge energy to summon a barrage of fireballs around opponent before a meteor drives them downward.
Arena:
Arena Name: Pandaemonium
Physical Description: The palace is perhaps the most closed-in arena in the game, with many walls, low ceilings, and few open areas. Perhaps fittingly, the Emperor's trap abilities work fairly well here due to the lack of space to maneuver in. Additionally, there is another arena on the top floor. Unlike the lower arena, which is a very closed-in space, the Top Floor is fairly spacious and wide. Numerous crystal formations litter the arena, and can be broken and stood on as platforms. The Emperor's throne lays against the far wall.
Media:
Pandaemonium
Pandaemonium Top Floor
Effects: The center of the stage contains a Banish Trap at the bottom of a pit over which hang a handful of small, square platforms. The stage's Ω form causes patches of ground to randomly turn red and black. When this occurs, spikes randomly appear and pierce upwards when the characters battle over these patches of ground, damaging their Bravery by a set percentage and adding it to the Bravery pool.
